  1. Read the recipe at least twice

Of course, everyone reads a recipe before they start cooking but, do you thoroughly go through it or just skim and think it is good enough? More often than not, it is the latter.   1. Prep and organize in advance

Stand in front of the mirror and look at your legs. Is your skin smooth? Is it tanned? However your legs are, do they have a large burn on them? No? Good. If you want to keep your legs the way they are, make sure to always turn your panhandles on their sides.

It is probable that things will get hectic in the kitchen. You might be running from side to side looking for an ingredient and accidentally knock down the pan. To prevent an unfortunate incident, get into the habit of turning the handles of your pans to the side.

  1. Buy a chef’s knife

Even an expert like Ido Fishman needs a chef’s knife. Therefore, it is recommended that you find one that suits you, because it will make your life in the kitchen easier. Many a times, you will not realize that your cutting techniques are no good until you find the knife that helps you channel your skill.

A good chef’s knife should be sharp and fit just right. If your hands are small in size, buy yourself a knife that is 6 to 7 inches. For larger hands, the recommended size of a knife is 8 to 10 inches.

  1. Do not exit the kitchen

This is another blaringly obvious tip but, it could always happen. Once you have your meal on the stove simmering away, you may think about putting a new load of laundry into the washing machine. Though you can quickly run out of the kitchen and be back in time, Ido Fishman recommends that you do not take that risk.

Sometimes, nothing bad happens but if it does, you will end up with a burnt meal.

  1. Buy new spices

If this is the first time you are going to get your hands dirty in the kitchen, then you may not have a lot of spices. However, if you have a paprika that you bought 10 years ago, it is time to throw it out. Do not be afraid or picky when it comes to splurging on new spices. Expired ones can be a safety hazard and have the Spice Cabinet Police Force on your tail. Moreover, new spices are needed to put a zing in your food.

  1. Try not to improvise too much

Experts like Ido Fishman always advise you to follow a recipe down to a tee if you are a beginner. You can always improvise and make the changes you want the second time. But, do not take the risk of ending up with a burnt or ruined meal in your first go.
